Electrify America, a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group of America, has recently unveiled its first electric vehicle (EV) fast charging station in Hawaii. This marks yet another major step forward in the development and deployment of the country’s electric vehicle infrastructure.
The new charging station, located in Honolulu, is the first of its kind in the state and one of the first of many to come as Electrify America continues to expand its charging network nationwide. The station is capable of delivering up to 150 kilowatts of power, allowing EVs to charge up to eight times faster than standard Level 2 chargers. The station also features 10 charging ports, allowing multiple vehicles to charge simultaneously.
In addition to the new charging station, Electrify America also announced plans to install additional direct current (DC) fast-charging sites throughout the state. The company also revealed plans to construct ultra-fast charging stations, capable of delivering up to 350 kilowatts of power, in select cities throughout the country.
The launch of the new charging station in Hawaii is part of Electrify America’s commitment to expand the country’s electric vehicle infrastructure. The company has invested $2 billion over the next 10 years to build out a nationwide network of charging stations. This network will enable EV drivers to travel more freely and with greater peace of mind, knowing that they’ll have access to convenient charging locations along the way.
The new charging station in Hawaii is a significant milestone in Electrify America’s mission to make electric vehicles more accessible and convenient for drivers. As the company continues to expand its network of charging stations, more and more drivers will be able to take advantage of the benefits of electric vehicles.
Electrify America’s inaugural EV fast charging station in Hawaii exemplifies the firm’s commitment to creating a robust electric vehicle infrastructure in the United States. With the construction of additional DC fast-charging sites throughout the state and ultra-fast charging stations in select cities, Electrify America is laying the groundwork for a future of electrified transportation.
