Obituary of Dick D. Hennessey – Times Herald-Record


Dick D. Hennessey of Grahamsville, died Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Garnet Health Medical Center. He was 67.

He was the son of the late Wayne Hennessey and Grace O`Dell, born May 11, 1956, in East Branch, NY.

When he was young, he worked with his family in their family’s quarry. He later joined the Navy and served our country proudly for four years. Upon his release, he began his career as a Correctional Officer at Sullivan Correctional Center until his retirement. He was formerly the custodian of the Grahamsville Rural Cemetery. In his free time he enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family, especially the newest addition to the family, his granddaughter Lorelai. He was a genuine person and had a heart of gold. He would help anyone and give them the shirt off their back if they needed it.

He is survived by his devoted wife Penny Hennessey, his two daughters, Cheyenne Hoagland and her husband Josh, Sierra Hennessey and her fiancé Lindsay Green, his granddaughter Lorelai Hoagland, his siblings Earl Hennessey and his wife Kelly, Mary Hennessey and her husband Gerry Wormuth. , his brother-in-law, David Nevin, mother-in-law, Bonnie LaDuke, sister-in-law Renee Simerson and her husband Jeff, dear friend Tommy Mackiel, and many family and friends including his beloved nieces and nephews. .

He was preceded in death by his sister Bonnie Nevin, his father-in-law Chester LaDuke, and his sister-in-law Annette Dabrowski.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Tommy Mackiel for all his support, long visits and support throughout this time.

Services will be handled in private.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like any donations to be made to the Ulster Heights Rod & Gun Club, where Dick was a member for many years.
