Ford Mustang GT 60th Anniversary Package: Anniversary Model

Ford Mustang GT 60th Anniversary Package: Anniversary Model

In April 1964, almost 60 years ago, Ford unveiled a new model at the World’s Fair in New York, which those involved expected to be successful. However, no one could have imagined at that time that it would have a negative impact on the automotive world and rewrite its history to some extent. Of course we are talking about the Mustang, which, according to the manufacturer, has been sold more than a million times in the last ten years alone.

Ford is celebrating the anniversary of its famous sports car, now in its seventh generation (see video), with many Mustang fans at a commemorative event at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the US state of North Carolina. A special model nicknamed the “60th Anniversary Package” will also debut there, which aims to visually remind the original model from 1964 in many ways. “We took inspiration from the original Mustang and updated some of the special design elements in this limited edition,” said Matt Simpson, general manager of Ford Enthusiast Vehicles.

Logos, wheels, stickers

Ford announced two weeks ago that the Mustang anniversary will have special logos on the front and rear fenders. Their design is reminiscent of the badges that were once seen on the original Mustang. The same applies to the design of 20-inch wheels. They have a dark gray interior and bright, machined detailing on the outside, as well as a red aluminum wheel cap in the center. For the radiator grille, Ford combines a wire mesh design with silver “noses” to which the headlights in the dark houses are connected.

Anyone who orders the “60th Anniversary Package” can choose their Ford Mustang in just three colors. They are called “Wimbledon White”, “Race Red” and “Vapor Blue”. There are also side graphics designed specifically for the specific model, which are available in “Iconic Silver” or “Vermillion Red” and represent a further reminder of the original Mustang. Whether the body is painted red or blue, the Mustang special has silver exterior glass covers. On white cars they have the color of the car.

Only with Coyote V8

Inside, the Ford Mustang with the “60th Anniversary Package” also has its own uniqueness. The available interior colors are called “Space Grey”, “Carmine Red” or “Black Onyx”. There is also a corresponding plaque on the passenger side of the dashboard.

The Mustang memory package is only available with the GT version along with premium equipment. This means: a five-liter V8 (nicknamed Coyote) with up to 493 hp and a maximum torque of 567 Newton meters according to American specifications is always present. Available in coupe and convertible; Ford also offers its customers a choice when it comes to transmission (six-speed manual or ten-speed automatic).

Limited to 1,965 copies

However, interested parties should be quick to get their hands on a copy: This special edition is limited to just 1,965 vehicles – also a reference to the original Mustang, which was part of the 1965 model year. Ford has not yet revealed how much the “60th Anniversary Package” will cost. it costs However, the Mustang GT may be more expensive than the $46,480 (coupe, which is currently equivalent to around 43,800 euros) or $51,980 (convertible, around 49,000 euros) that the premium-equipped pony car currently costs.

I think it’s a success – the future has long begun. It’s not my thing – I’d like more mechanical progress.

Ford is celebrating the “60th anniversary of the Mustang” with the “60th Anniversary Package”. It includes special paint, badges and stickers as well as wheels and grille in special designs. All of this is meant to be reminiscent of the original Mustang, which debuted at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York.
