Bastianini (Ducati): More decisive in the sprint / MotoGP

After some strong recent performances, Ducati factory rider Enea Bastianini can approach the MotoGP clash with confidence. For the Italian it will be his first race at the Desmosedici factory in Jerez.

One of the nice surprises of the young season is still Ducati factory rider Enea Bastianini. While “La Bestia” is often referred to as Ducati No. 2 in 2023, the words in 2024 are not relevant. Along with Pedro Acosta, the Italian also managed to climb the podium in the last two GP races. Especially due to the greatly improved performance in the qualification, Bastianini was able to compare himself with the leaders from the beginning.

The results after the first three times of the GP are impressive. Enea Bastianini holds the second place in the World Championship table with 59 points and is therefore in a better position than the two-time world champion and his teammate Francesco Bagnaia. However, he arrives in Jerez with full memories of his Grand Prix victory 12 months ago. Bastianini did not play any role in Andalusia at that time. Although the now 26-year-old made a comeback (after retirement including a shoulder injury at the start of the season), Bastianini was unable to compete in the race due to severe pain.

As an official Ducati Lenovo rider, the former Moto2 world champion takes part in his first Jerez race. As we left for Spain, #23 announced: “I’m happy that I can drive in Jerez again. It’s a great track that I really enjoy driving. Last year I tried to come back here after a shoulder injury, but I wasn’t ready and I had to give up before the two races . This year we are coming off two stage finals in Spain, and although Jerez is a completely different track to Austin, we have all the ingredients for another successful weekend.”

Despite the good starting position, the man from Rimini sees more room for improvement: “I have regained the feeling for the motorcycle and our teamwork is great.” However, I have to focus on being more consistent in the early stages of the race and driving more decisively in the race.”

Determination will be necessary to withstand the proud armor of the high cavalry in the first stop on Spanish soil.
