TT 2024: McGuinness is first on the track / Touring Trophies

The secret is out. John McGuinness opens the race in the Superstock and Superbike classes at the TT. The likes of Dean Harrison, Michael Dunlop and Peter Hickman are number 3, 6 and 10 respectively.

Nothing is more eagerly awaited by Touring Trophy racing fans on the Isle of Man than the publication of the starting order of the top 20 seeds in the Superstock and Superbike or Senior TT classes. Now the secret is finally out.

John McGuinness will once again have the honor of opening the race this year with the number 1 on his factory Honda. When the Brit, who is third on the all-time list with 23 TT wins behind Joey Dunlop (26) and Michael Dunlop (25), steps off the grid in the Superbike race, he will be stepping into his 109th (! ) Tour Championship race.

Behind Jamie Coward, Dean Harrison, who will compete in the road racing season for the Honda UK factory team this year, was given starting position 3. He is the first rider from last year’s top three to cover more than 60km per the length of the Snaefell Mountain Course on his motorbike.

After Ian Hutchinson and James Hillier – all the riders mentioned so far will be on the Honda CBR1000RR this year – follows Micheal Dunlop. He is still silent on what machine he will use this time. The crowd favorite has achieved his 25 victories so far on six different motorcycle brands.

With Josh Brookes and David Todd, the two BMW drivers will be hot on their heels, before Peter Hickman (BMW) begins to chase down Craig Neve (Honda). The record holder has once again decided to start number 10 so that he can monitor the times of his tough opponents and react to them.

The rest of the order is: Conor Cummins, David Johnson, Lee Johnston – assuming he recovers from his injuries – Michael Rutter, Rob Hodson, Dominic Herbertson, Gary Johnson, Shaun Anderson, Phillip Crowe and Michael Brown. Austria’s Julian Trummer is number 22, Germans David Datzer and Patrick Hoff are 27 and 63, respectively.
