FIA WEC Imola H3: Ferrari, but with a slight margin over Toyota and Porsche

In Imola, the start of the second round of the FIA WEC was chaotic in front of more than 70,000 spectators. After a fast start, the race became increasingly strategic, although nothing was decided midway through the six-hour race. Ferrari is currently leading the field, with the number 51 Giovinazzi-Calado-Pier Guidi in front. In LM GT3, the Manthey Porsche that started from pole, as expected, is less powerful than the competition.

The start of the second race of the World Endurance Championship was surprising, not for the Belgians. First, Sarah Bovy was hit on the starting line by Yasser Shahin’s Porsche 911 GT3 R, which eventually led to the retirement of the Iron Dames Lamborghini. A few meters further, several prototypes were crushed in the braking area before the first chicane, including the #15 BMW M Hybrid V8 and the #94 Peugeot 9X8 among the victims, the cars of Dries Vanthoor and Stoffel Vandoorne, who played no further role. because it would play more.

Up front, the battle for victory is between the two Ferrari 499Ps, with the #51 of Giovinazzi-Calado-Pier Guidi in the middle of the race ahead of the #50 of Fuoco-Molina-Nielsen. However, the powerful #7 Toyota GR010 of Nyck De Vries and both Porsche Penske Motorsport cars are also within half a minute of the leaders. Laurens Vanthoor also made a big start and is fourth.

In LMGT3 it is Porsche against BMW and Ferrari, with two WRT BMW M4 GT3 now in second (Martin-Rossi-Al Harthy) and third. Tom Van Rompuy got off to a good start and is currently eighth in the TF Sport Corvette.
