Citroen XM “is comfort, comfort and once again comfort.” XM rally at the Castle in Moszna

Have you ever seen multiple XMs in one place? On Saturday, a meeting of owners and supporters of this unique hydropneumatic car was held at the Castle in Moszna, attended by more than 30 cars. Why Citroen XM is so interesting? “Comfort, comfort and more comfort,” says one of the owners.

It is not without reason that the meeting was named “Citroën XM World #1 and Polska #7 Meeting”. Not only car owners from Poland came to the site, but also from many other European countries. Citroens with registration numbers from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia, Latvia and Belgium gathered around the beautiful Moszna mansion. The years and versions were very wide, but next to XM you can see DS, CX, BX and C6. The meeting was an opportunity to meet old friends, talk and share experiences between the members of the club: Citroën Oldtimer Club Polska, Citroën XM Polska, Citroen World and Q&K Citroen Classics. Citroen XM instead of C5?

Citroen XM 2.0 Turbo version, although it already has more than 300,000 miles on the odometer. km, he covered his first distance of 200 km in 3 years to Moszna. The owner of the car is Piotr, who got interested in XM from a friend and then bought the car on a whim. “I saw it, I rode it 10 kilometers and bought it for a little money” – he says. “Citroën XM attracts attention, but what is important is comfort, comfort and more comfort” – he persuades.

After buying the car, it needed a whole list of maintenance. “I have been fixing my car for 3 years. XM has its floors, sills and flares done, I recently replaced the timing, spark plugs, steering fluid and tires. I cleaned the interior, carpets and soundproofing myself. I have learned everything from YouTube” – he says. “The interior still needs cleaning, including: buying a new gear shifter. I’m also considering registering the car as a monument.

How does the XM perform compared to the C5? “The C5 in the 3.0 V6 version had a kick, it must be admitted, but the XM is better” – persuades the owner.

We bought the XM because of the big trunk

Some focus on comfort, others on transportation options. The 2000 Citroen XM 2.1 109 HP station wagon was chosen mainly because of its transportability. XM works on the Joy Hunters event team. “We bought a car over 10 years ago for work” – says Eugeniusz, owner of XM, and his son Wojciech.

“The Citroën XM was the biggest car we could find at the time, and it didn’t drag its belly down when loaded like other models. The hydropneumatic suspension allows you to lift the car and keep it level even when the back is very full, which is why it worked so well for us as a transporter. It carried every nothing: drums, guitars, keyboards, amplifiers and lights. Other than that, he worked perfectly.” – says Eugeniusz.

“We transported the whole orchestra in one car, and the band members drove another car. Currently, XM is less needed as a means of transportation and is slowly becoming more sophisticated, which is why it works well in such cases” – he adds.

The participants of the rally spent Saturday at a beautiful castle in Moszna, and Sunday was full of more attractions and visits to interesting places. On the XM route there are von Haugwitz Castle, Rogów Opolski Castle and Niemodlin Castle.
