F1. Ocon positive about Alpine revisions

Alpine has prepared a major package of its modifications – focused on aerodynamics – for the British Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso finished fifth and Esteban Ocon drove eighth until the fuel pump failed.

In Austria, on the other hand, a new rear wing appeared. Ocon finished fifth and Alonso moved from the bottom of the grid to tenth.

In the eleven races played so far, Alpine has amassed 81 points – the same amount as fourth-placed McLaren.

Ocon does not hide that he hopes that further adjustments and an increase in form will allow us to think more confidently about the fight against Mercedes – which is currently the third bet force.

“It’s great and it’s great to see the package brought to Silverstone made a difference,” said Ocon, when asked about the modifications by Motorsport.com. – We can see it. I hope the next one will be just as big.

– We still have some work to do to be able to stand against Mercedes. They are very fast. If the team prepares the right things, we will use them.

The French insist that the team must ensure that the A522 is competitive on every type of track.

– We have to be more consistent. At times I felt that we did not necessarily have the speed that the car was capable of. However, last weekend [w Austrii] he was perfect in that.

– We still have some work ahead of us to always be at this level. However, we improved everything this weekend.

Regarding the level of failure that took him out of the points at Silverstone and made the weekend difficult for his Austrian teammate, Ocon added:

– I believe in my team, it goes without saying. They know that such problems cannot happen to us if we want to fast. But in the end, the car has performance.

– And that was the plan. Have a car that works well. And reliability will come with the next race – concluded Esteban Ocon.
