F1: The director of Ford says that the partnership with Red Bull is an analysis of interests

A partnership between Ford and Red Bull has long been speculated. That is because the agreement with Honda should end for sure at the end of 2025. It is worth remembering that in 2021 the Japanese “gave up” System 1 like engine dealers. So the Milton Keynes team created its own factory, Red Bull Powertrains, to develop the power unit.

However, a new partnership was signed with Honda for technical assistance in engine manufacturing. The original agreement was until this year, but with the success of the Austrian team last season, the ties were renewed until 2025.

However, for the following years, with the introduction of a new power unit in 2026, nothing is stable. Even Red Bull tried to find other partners, such as talks with Porsche, but the talks did not go forward.

Which puts Ford in the game, who want to cross the path of Formula 1 again – with its last clause in 2004. One of the reasons given for the possibility of cooperation is that the growing sport in the United States was a good attraction for the company. North America.

In the case of Red Bull, it is speculated that Ford is not interested in a large stake in the team, which is seen in good eyes by the Austrian team, unlike what Porsche proposed and, therefore, ended the negotiations.

In a conversation with Motorsport, Mark Rushbrook, Global Director of Ford, did not want to give too many comments on the matter, but insisted that it is all about the analysis process.

“We do not comment on rumors, but it is the same as every other championship that exists. It is up to us to analyze and then make a decision if it is wise for us to participate in a certain category,” said Rushbrook.
