OK, the final season of The Crown is certainly not the best, but that won’t bother Bonhams. The auction house will put hundreds of items from the Netflix series under the hammer in early February this Jaguar XJ-CS.
of’Yaaaaaggg’ it is the only car to be auctioned. For others, it’s clothing and accessories that are sold at auction. Although there is also a full size copy of the English Gold Coach available.
XJ-SC uit The Crown
As you can see, Jaguar XJ-SC is not a real convertible, more of a targa. Originally, Jaguar wouldn’t offer an open version of the XJ-S at all, ie.
So when customer needs arose, this SC was the first solution. For stiffness, Jaguar has given it a large roll bar. There are two removable roof panels above the cabin.
Only the actual converter later
Unlike the XJ-S Coupé, the SC has no rear seats. Two cargo storage areas are located there. The SC was not built by Jaguar itself, but by a specialist.
When the model proved that the open XJ-S was capable, Jaguar began to produce a convertible, of which more than 5,000 copies were produced until 1988.
Princess Diana’s Jaguar
Princess Diana had a green American XJ-SC in the 1980s, just like this one, but with a V12 in it. The engine used in The Crown is a 3.6 liter inline-six.
Originally blue
To make the Jaguar look as realistic as possible, it is equipped with rear seats. Diana put it in her own car for William and Harry, who were still young at the time.
This XJ-SC was originally blue. The color can still be seen under the hood and in the trunk. The expected minimum price is incredible: between 15,000 and 20,000 pounds (+/- 20,000 euros).
