An agricultural worker in Minnesota was shot and killed by a farmer while shucking corn on Tuesday, according to law enforcement officials.

The incident occurred around 5 pm local time in a rural area near the town of Waseca, located about 80 miles south of Minneapolis.

The victim, identified as a 34-year-old male, was shucking corn when the farmer allegedly opened fire, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety said. The man was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The farmer, a 58-year-old man, was taken into custody at the scene and is being held by the Waseca County Sheriff’s Office pending further investigation.
