Two people in a car were injured in a serious traffic accident on federal highway number 4 on Monday. Violation of the right of way was the cause of the collision. According to the police, a 27-year-old man from the district of Haßberge was driving his VW Polo from Gleusdorf towards Busendorf around 4:50 pm At the junction with the federal highway 4, the young woman apparently ignored the car from Bamberg, that both vehicles collided at the intersection.

After the collision, the VW stood against its original direction of travel on the B4. Another Peugeot car with the registration of Cologne left the right lane due to the accident and threw itself at the intersection in the ditch. Before that, the car hit a traffic signal.

Fortunately, according to preliminary findings at the scene of the accident, neither the 27-year-old driver of the Polo nor the middle-aged driver in the Peugeot were seriously injured and were not trapped in their vehicles. The first responders had treated the two victims until the arrival of the rescue service and the fire brigade.

After initial treatment by the BRK rescue service and an emergency doctor, the two people involved were taken to the clinics in Coburg and Bamberg by ambulance for further examination.

Two ambulances from Ebern and Bamberg, an emergency doctor from Ebern and the leader of the BRK rescue service from Bamberg were at work at the accident site.

Fire brigades from Kaltenbrunn, Untermerzbach and Busendorf were also on site with around 35 assistants. They shut off leaking equipment, ensured fire protection and took over traffic control.

During the rescue and recovery work, B4 at the crash site was temporarily closed.
