BYD shows the interior of the Model Y killer Sea Lion 07

A dream of air and skin

BYD does not only focus on the elegant appearance on the outside, the manufacturer also places great emphasis on luxury on the inside. The seats, door panels, steering wheel and control panels are covered in the finest leather. The design – as with the entire Sea range from BYD – is characterized by elegant minimalism, lots of space and long curved lines that are meant to evoke the “beauty of the sea”. The driver’s display is connected directly to the dashboard. As with the Model Y, next to it is a large 15.6-inch display for the infotainment system. Unlike Tesla, BYD relies more on physical buttons and keys to operate the car. The sound system from Dynaudio is intended to ensure excellent sound during multimedia playback. The interior of the Sea Lion 07 is, at least visually, more impressive than the car’s price would suggest.

In China already from 26,000 euros?

Although the cost has not yet been officially confirmed, according to local reports, the car could be in China for around 26,000 euros. For comparison: Tesla’s Model Y still costs at least 32,300 euros after the price cut. The Sea Lion 07 was designed by ex-Lamborghini and Audi designer Wolfgang Egger and, at 4.83×1.93×1.62 meters, it is similar in size to the Tesla Model Y. According to the leaked information, the car will be available in three variants. Those interested can choose between a single-motor version with either 228 or 308 hp or a dual-motor version with 523 hp. BYD’s internal blade battery will probably serve as energy storage.
