That was fun again. PSG – Barcelona was a celebration of scoring 5 goals, where the visitors came out on top. However, the Parisians erased the deficit early in the second half. This was followed by a mini-remontada through Raphinha and Christensen. Next week all the pressure will be on Mbappé’s shoulders to turn the situation around.

PSG – Barcelona in brief:

  • Important time: Xavi’s change makes a difference for Barcelona. Pedri is not on the field when he creates Raphinha’s second goal with a good pass. Fifteen minutes later, Christensen, another substitute, scored the winning goal.
  • Man of the match: In the dying minutes, Raphinha stood up for his first CL goal with the Catalans. The Brazilian is the first Barca player to score twice in a Champions League knockout stage match since Lionel Messi in the semi-final against Liverpool in 2019.
  • Strange: Not a single shot on target. It was clearly not Kylian Mbappé’s night. In his last CL match with PSG at the Parc des Princes, the French star was a shadow of himself. Barca’s defense with the powerful Araujo and the beautiful 17-year-old Cubarsi kept him in complete control.

Raphinha gives Barca a deserved lead

Fueled by a lively atmosphere at the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain took an immediate lead. But it was Barcelona that gave the first threat when Raphinha was able to rush to the goal alone. Only Donnarumma and the expected Dame Fortuna can save PSG from an early deficit.

In the middle of the first half, the same Donnarumma looked very good. The Italian goalkeeper was easily defeated by Lewandowski for a corner kick. Mendes was a lifesaver for PSG and managed to clear the ball before the goal line.

Despite PSG’s early dominance, Barcelona were the more dangerous team and were gaining more traction. Raphinha first collided with a save from Donnarumma, but calmly up front, Barca’s most dangerous man was still able to make a difference.

Just in front of the oncoming Lewandowski’s nose, Donnarumma was only halfway to a brilliant cross – outside left – from Yamal. Raphinha went 0-1 at the plate to give the Catalans a deserved lead.

Barca’s substitutes cancel PSG’s strong start

It must have been a stern reprimand from Luis Enrique at half-time, because PSG came out of the dressing room reborn. In just three minutes the home team completely changed roles. It went from 0-1 to 2-1 very quickly.

Against his former team, Dembélé scored a goal that shook the Parc des Princes. With his left hand he drove the ball high into the goal.

PSG was on top of it, because just a few minutes after the equalizer it was already 2-1. Ruiz guided Vitinha into the box and the Portuguese finished with a good diagonal shot. While Barcelona did not know what hit them, the visitors got away worse when Ter Stegen was able to push Barcola’s shot against the goal.

Xavi intervened with Félix and Pedri’s comments and that turned out to be a golden move. Pedri immediately came up with a piece of art. He dropped the ball beautifully behind the PSG defense and Raphinha’s finish was on par. Just ahead of Donnarumma he scored his second goal of the evening with one goal.

Fifteen minutes before the end, the penny dropped for Barca. Dembélé saw his shot hit the post and on the other hand it was hit in the corner for the visitors. Once again the substitute made the difference, Christensen led Barcelona back into the lead.

PSG did everything they could, but the comeback was not easy for the Parisians. Next Tuesday, the French champion awaits a tough job in Barcelona.

The end

PSG vs Barcelona has always produced fireworks in the Champions League and tonight was no different. The Catalans came out on top in a real spectacle. PSG went from 0-1 to 2-1 with a bang to start the second half, but star Raphinha and substitute Christensen turned the tables once again. PSG are facing a difficult task at Camp Nou.

Will Mbappe do anything else?

PSG gets four extra minutes to avoid defeat. Can Mbappé, working on a very dull match, unleash his demons again?

4 – extra time

An additional 4 minutes will be added.

Beraldo and Fermin take yellow

Fermin asks for a yellow card for Beraldo with a little emphasis after committing a foul. Beraldo gets the card, but Fermin himself also goes into ref Taylor’s book.

Yellow for Christensen

Barcelona will also have to do without Christensen in the second leg along with Sergi Roberto. He will also receive a yellow card and face a suspension.

A rare mistake by Cubarsi puts Dembélé in the box. He tries to reach Mbappé at the far post, but his cross misses the mark.

Yellow for Cubarsi

Cubarsi hangs too much on Barcola and receives a justified yellow card. PSG is now trying to do everything possible to avoid defeat at home. It remains a festival in Paris.

Christensen brings a new twist!

What an amazing match! Barcelona lead again! Newly substituted Christensen is lost in the corner and heads in from close range.
