Dacia has been riding a wave of success for years. Once derided as a low-cost supplier, the Romanians at Renault have long achieved the status of a local tip. Affordable and robust models such as Duster, Jogger and Co are a real proposition, especially for private households. Citroën now also wants a piece of this cake.

The clever French have already presented a real price breaker in the electric segment with the ë-C3, and now the little ones are also showing themselves with a petrol engine. With a starting price that is likely to be around 20,000 francs, the cool little crossover will be a breath of fresh air for the entry-level class.

A powerful three-cylinder turbo provides propulsion in the Citroen C3

The petrol-powered Citroen C3 is based on a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 100 hp. According to the WLTP standard, it uses a manageable 5.6 liters per 100 kilometers. It directs its power to the front wheels and is changed through a 6-speed gearbox. Unfortunately, the automatic option is not available.

There are no surprises in the design

Externally, the C3 combustion engine is almost identical to the electric version, apart from the stealthy exhaust. Inside, the C3 is based on a smaller concept, with digital instruments and a 10.25-inch central monitor on the top equipment line. The base variant uses the driver’s smartphone as the hub of the infotainment system. The trunk remains flexible for use with a base volume of 310 liters and folding rear seats.

Solid materials make the C3 attractive

When it comes to equipment, the new C3 follows in the footsteps of its electric counterpart: “You” and “Max”. The base model is already well equipped with features such as LED headlights, Citroën Advanced Comfort suspension, automatic emergency braking and manual air conditioning. For more demanding customers, the “Max” variant offers additional features such as a two-tone body, larger wheels and modern comfort accessories.
