Information

This year marks the end of the Challenger competition era, as Dodge prepares a next-generation model, possibly with an electric powertrain. Challenger 2023 carries under the hood special commemorative plaques to mark the final year of the current generation and Dodge will offer the most popular colors of the past, including Plum Crazy, B5 Blue and Sublime Green.

All R/T models feature a new “345” badge on the front fender to pay homage to the Hemi V-8 engine that sits under the car’s long, vented hood.

Engine, transmission and performance

The Challenger’s base 305-hp V-6 won’t satisfy thrill seekers. The standard engine is mated only to an eight-speed automatic, but in the heavy Challenger it lacks the acceleration and feel of its rivals. THE Hemi V-8 engines Dodge is another story. The 5.7 liters for 375 CV it has plenty of power to swing around when needed, and its throaty growl is satisfying. Anyone who wants to maximize the Challenger’s capabilities will want to The V-8 delivers 6.4 literswhich produces 485 horses.

While we’re stick shift enthusiasts, the automatic is wonderfully responsive to acceleration inputs, and quick power ramps. The Challenger tackles the corner like an angry red-eyed bull, snorting wildly and swaying menacingly.

Interior, comfort and luggage

A competitor has Classic muscle car interior, with a simple design inspired by its predecessors of the 70s and comfortable accommodation. Compared to its pony car rivals, the Dodge has more room inside and adults can use the back seat. Unfortunately, the rubberized materials are reminiscent of old vinyl rather than good plastic, and the rear view is hellish.

The Challenger’s front seats are comfortable for cruising, but also i optional seatswhich have extra padding, don’t hug the occupants like those in the Camaro or Mustang.
