Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin): “This is pure gold” / Formula 1

The star of Aston Martin, Fernando Alonso has left empty-handed in four Grands Prix competitions. The 2005 and 2006 Formula 1 champion says: “In Qatar and Abu Dhabi, every point for us is like pure gold.”

Aston Martin will finish the 2024 Constructors’ Cup in fifth place. This is disappointing, because after a very strong first part of the 2023 season, the Greens hoped to make life difficult for Red Bull Racing, Ferrari and Mercedes, who are used to winning, this season.

Instead, McLaren has improved and is on the verge of taking its first victory in the manufacturers’ championship since 1998. Aston Martin, on the other hand, will be without a podium finish in 2024.

Even the seemingly eternally young Fernando Alonso (43) managed only fifth place (in the second race of the season, in Saudi Arabia) in the last four Grand Prix, the 32-time GP winner failed to score once – the position of 13); in Texas, defeat in Mexico, 14th place in Brazil, 11th place in Las Vegas.

The Spaniard says: “In Qatar and Abu Dhabi, every point for us is like pure gold. It’s not really about much, but it’s very important that I can give something back to our team after all the difficulties of the last few weeks.”

The player who finished ninth in the World Cup said in Qatar: “Not everything was negative in Las Vegas. We had a solid strategy from 16th place, race pace was better than qualifying, pit stops were very fast. If we can start a little further, then it will have points.
