The leader of the world championship suddenly: Daniel Mogeda surprised everyone / Supersport World Cup 300

Daniel Mogeda’s talent has come to the fore in the past, but a tumultuous Supersport 300 World Championship meeting in Assen helped the Kawasaki rider to full success.

Daniel Mogeda has been participating in the Supersport 300 World Championship as a part-time driver since 2021. Last year, the youngster finished third in Most and Aragon, but only finished the season ninth in the World Championship.

Because the Spaniard crashed in the first race at this year’s opener in Barcelona, he only traveled to the meeting in Assen in ninth place. The first race on Saturday was canceled and restarted with just five laps to go. The onset of rain on the final lap caused additional drama. In a shocking finale with many crashes, the Kawasaki rider prevailed and took his first world championship victory.

“I started the first race from 14th place, but I felt good and I was able to pass many drivers. It started to rain on the last lap, but I was confident and I was able to win. It was my first victory in the World Championship. I am very happy,” said Mogeda “It’s a long journey for me and the team, and we’ve worked hard for it. I want to hand over this victory to my brother.”

Daniel’s brother, Alex, is pursuing a career as a musician.

Because Mogeda set the second fastest lap time, his starting position in the second race was better. Starting on the front row, he was on the front row from the start and won again on the dry line on a turbulent final lap.

“The fact that I also won Race 2 makes me happy,” said the young man. “I started from the front row and immediately I was in the top group. There was a crowd with many drivers and constant battles for positions. Now we are leading the championship, which is amazing. The only thing I think about now is my team, my family and my friends – all these people who support me in bad times. I’m happy to lead the championship now, but it’s a long season and there are still many races ahead of us.”

Team boss Paul Tobin had already worked with Mogeda in 2021 and 2022. “He’s improved a lot since he last rode with us. “You can see that he thinks about what he’s doing on the track,” the Brit observed. “A double is a fantastic achievement . We are very happy. Daniel leads the world championship, but we stay on the carpet.
