Lewis Hamilton on criticism of Ferrari: “They are talking rubbish” / Formula 1

What I’ve always liked about Lewis Hamilton: He’s a bad actor. When things are going well, his eyes light up and he almost bursts with enthusiasm. When things don’t go well, you can almost feel the physical pain of failure.

However, Hamilton deftly moves on the stage of political correctness: he answers even stupid questions patiently and generally remains calm. Normally. Not always.

The fact that he is regularly asked about Ferrari during a phase of sporting laxity at Mercedes now angers the seven-time champion.

In Japan, the 103-time GP winner stormed out of the press conference with his closing words: “Don’t you have better questions?” It was about Ferrari.

And now in China the 39-year-old Englishman is making strides. Asked if Ferrari’s impressive competition and Mercedes’ mediocre performances were proof that he did the right thing for 2025, Lewis said: “I don’t think I have to justify my decision. I know what’s right for me and nothing has changed since I made my decision.”

“I haven’t questioned my decision once, and I don’t let comments sway me. Even today there are people talking trash, and maybe it will continue to be like that for the rest of the year. I’m just doing what I’ve done before.”

As a reminder: When Lewis Hamilton decided at the end of the summer of 2012 to leave McLaren and drive for Mercedes-Benz from 2013, the press claimed that it was the worst decision of his career.

From 2014 to 2020, Hamilton became world champion six times with Mercedes, only his partner Nico Rosberg was able to prevent the Brit from making a clean sweep in 2016.
