At the heart of ecological change in the automotive industry, Ferrari is also working on an electric future. In a recent announcement in March 2024, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna promised that the brand’s first electric car, planned for last quarter of 2025, it can provide an “unique” experience as proven by its historical combustion engines.

The Italian company is also turning to electricity, with the construction of a new production site in Maranello dedicated to electric motors, battery packs and power inverters.

Ferrari predicts that by 2026, around 60% of its cars will be hybrids or fully electric. This strategic pivot towards high-performance electric vehicles aims to establish a significant market share in this new segment. Note that in the 3rd quarter of 2023, Ferrari had sold more hybrid cars than hot cars.

Speaking on CNBC, Vigna emphasized that the company will continue to emphasize performance, design and driving experience in its range of electric vehicles, stressing that “electric vehicles are not silent.” Ferrari is working on “sound signatures” for its EVs, which should arouse emotions and compete with those produced by its combustion engines.

“Every Ferrari we build is unique. When we build a Ferrari, we focus on performance, design, driving characteristics and durability,” said Vigna. He also added that technology allows great things to be achieved with electric cars, especially when it comes to replicating the distinctive sound of Ferraris. Meanwhile, Ferrari had an exceptional start to 2024, and its shares rose nearly 29%, following a 59% jump in 2023. The company posted a record profit last year, with annual profit growth of 34%, surpassing one billion euros for the first time.
