Does Ferrari regret the Hamilton deal and Sainz goodbye? “Who made the decision”

Carlos Sainz is entering his final season for Ferrari in Formula 1. From 2025, Lewis Hamilton will take over the cockpit at the Scuderia. A former team employee believes the race team is already questioning the decision.

Did Ferrari make a mistake with Hamilton’s coup next season?

This question arises after the first race of the current Formula 1 season.

Formula 1: Carlos Sainz is on the rise

Although future Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton has had a disappointing season for Mercedes so far, Sainz has fared much better since the change was announced.

Sainz is fourth in the overall standings, although he missed the Grand Prix.

The Spaniard won in Australia and entered the podium with two third places in Bahrain and Japan. He had to miss the race in Saudi Arabia due to appendicitis.

By comparison: world record champion Hamilton is in ninth place with ten points.

Sainz is the only F1 driver who managed to beat the most powerful Red Bull in 2023 and 2024. He has not yet signed a new contract for 2025. Red Bull, Sauber and Mercedes are considered as possible candidates.

He was already collecting many arguments for another job.

Ferrari: “Whoever made the decision…”

Former Ferrari engineer Toni Cuquerella thinks the Reds are already regretting Sainz’s decision. “Whoever made the decision will have a bad end to the year,” he said on “Dazn”.

And more: “I think if you take away the points because Carlos couldn’t drive the race, then Ferrari is thinking about whether they did the right thing or not.”

F1 expert Antonio Lobato added to “Dazn”: “Since the SF24 arrived in the life of the Ferrari men, Carlos has felt better, more confident.”
