Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur: “Great job” / Formula 1

The two Ferrari stars had different starting positions for the race at the Suzuka Circuit. Carlos Sainz was able to start from the second row of the grid and was fourth fastest in qualifying. His teammate Charles Leclerc, on the other hand, had to start his fourth race of the season from eighth on the grid in the fourth row.

The strategies of the two Scuderia mercenaries were equally different. Leclerc had the tough task of stopping just once after being stopped early in the race, while Sainz made two pit stops. Both showed good performances and finished 3rd and 4th one after the other, with the Spaniard coming out on top.

Team boss Fred Vasseur concluded with satisfaction: “It was a good Sunday for our team. We had the tire management under control, the pace was good, the strategy worked and the pit stops were also strong.

Meanwhile, the Frenchman warned: “If we were missing something this weekend, it was in qualifying on Saturday. We have to do a better job.” He had only words of praise for his two followers. “Both of them did a great job,” he gave them a fond memory of the Suzuka campaign.

And Vasseur explained: “We knew that the race strategy would be a little different for Charles because he started from 8th position. That’s why we decided early in the race to make only one stop with him. It worked because he took good care of the tires. We can be happy because they wasted no time in fighting as they executed different strategies. It was a perfect job.”
