The President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, announced on Monday in Algiers, during a press conference with the President of the Italian Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, that the production of cars of the Italian brand “Fiat” will begin. Next March in Algeria.

The Ministry of Industry and the “Stellantis” group had signed, on October 13, 2022, a framework agreement for the development of activities for the production of vehicles and after-sales services and spare parts for the “Fiat” brand.

The “Fiat” car factory is located in the city of Tafraoui in the district of Oran on a land base of 40 hectares and another 80 hectares, given to local suppliers and subcontractors.

Its initial production capacity is 60,000 vehicles per year from the first year before reaching 90,000 vehicles/year later.

It is expected, continues President Tebboune, the launch of the production of motorcycles of the “Vespa” brand in Guelma before “moving to other steps” of this bilateral cooperation, stressing that “the two countries are working to expand their cooperation in all plans”.

Due to this situation, the President of the Republic remembered the sign of the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Friendship and Good Neighbor Agreement.

“Algeria aims to make Italy the center of Algeria’s energy supply in Europe, be it electricity or gas, not only natural gas, but also hydrogen, ammonia and so on,” he added.

Regarding the Italian investment in Algeria, the President of the Republic of Algeria highlighted the “significant experience” of Algeria and the Italian industry, considering that “Many Algerians who have invested in this industry are satisfied, Italy having taken the right path to become an industrial power. in the field of small and medium industries, which sets it as an example of reflection in this area,” he added.
