Test Fiat 500X Hybrid im

The Fiat 500X Hybrid is the perfect car for young people who commute around the city every day but also like to travel outdoors. In the Guten Tag Österreich car test we were able to test the Fiat 500X Hybrid in Sport equipment variant in detail.

Our test car is powered by a turbocharged gasoline engine with direct injection from the FireFly series, together with a 48-volt electric motor. The combustion engine produces an output of 96 kW (130 hp) and a maximum torque of m 240 Newtons from four cylinders with a displacement of 1.5 liters. Advanced hybrid technology combines a gasoline engine with a 12-volt belt-start generator, a 48-volt liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 770 Wh and a 48-volt electric motor with 15 kW (20 hp) connected to 7. -speed dual-clutch automatic ) power and torque of 55 Nm.

The system helps starting and increases the efficiency and dynamics of the car. The Fiat 500X Hybrid is also capable of fully electric driving with the combustion engine off for up to around 3 kilometers at a low speed of less than 20 km/h. It is the first model from the brand to use hybrid technology to keep the combustion engine off for up to 47 percent of the time when testing consumption according to the WLTP cycle. In the urban cycle the ratio increases to 62 percent. And this is undoubtedly reflected in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The average consumption during our tests was 5.1 liters per 100 km. Thanks to the invisible interaction between the electric and combustion engines, the Fiat 500X Hybrid is very comfortable to drive.

An electric motor produces its torque practically from standstill. This supports the performance of the combustion engine during start-up and slows down the turbo when shifting gears or accelerating hard. Fiat 500X Hybrid accelerates from standstill to 100 km / h in 9.4 seconds. When driving in electric mode, the combustion engine starts automatically when the accelerator pedal is accelerated. The electric motor also changes the operation stage of the combustion engine so that it can reach its maximum efficiency even when the car is cold. This function shortens the warm-up period of the catalytic converter, which further reduces fuel consumption and emissions.

The hybrid drive also offers more benefits, not least when starting in electric mode (e-launch). This procedure is gentle, quiet and non-invasive. Depending on the power requirements and battery charge level, the Fiat 500X Hybrid can be driven fully electrically for up to 3 kilometers at a speed of less than 20 km/h. The Fiat 500X Hybrid also has a creeping function (E-Creeping), which makes short electrically driven forward movements without pressure on the accelerator pedal, simply by releasing the brake pedal. This happens, for example, in stop-and-go traffic (e-queuing). Fiat 500X Hybrid can also park electrically in front or back (e-parking). Self-correcting, the hybrid system recovers energy during braking and rolling and uses it to charge the battery.

The advantages of hybrid technology are many: low consumption and low emissions, great environmental friendliness, low noise pollution and more comfort and driving pleasure thanks to the quick shifting of the automatic double clutch and the quick response of car. These features make the 48-volt hybrid technology of the new Fiat 500X Hybrid a benchmark in its segment. Hybrid technology is an additional addition to everyday life, easy to use and able to meet all mobility needs.

The Fiat 500X Hybrid Sport also offers a lot in terms of electronic driver assistance systems (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, ADAS), which increase comfort and prevent potential accidents. The most important features include Focus Support. It detects signs of driver fatigue, for example uncontrolled side movements of the vehicle. It warns the driver audibly and visually using a signal in the center console and suggests taking a break.

  • Autonomous emergency brake assist. If necessary, it locks the car automatically to completely prevent a collision with the car in front or at least reduce the consequences, even if the driver has not intervened. The autonomous emergency braking assistant warns both audibly and visually before intervening. It also causes a short impulse to stop. Traffic Sign Recognition: Recognizes and analyzes traffic signs using speed limits.
  • Mental Speed Help. He advises the driver to stick to the speed limit.
  • Lane keeping assistant (Lane Assistant): Keeps the car on the lane with gentle steering, provided the markings are recognized correctly.
  • Adaptive High Beam: Ensures better visibility when driving at night by automatically turning on the high beam when there is no oncoming traffic or the rear lights of vehicles ahead are detected.
  • With a blind assistant. It uses aerial sensors to monitor the blind spot of the exterior mirrors and warns other vehicles in the blind spot with a triangular warning light on the relevant exterior mirror.

The keyless entry and engine start system (Keyless Entry/Go) including the reversing camera make driving the Fiat 500X Hybrid even more practical and convenient.

Price: The Fiat 500X Hybrid in Sport equipment variant including soft top with electric folding roof is currently available in Austria for 31,300 euros.
