A blaze at a Michigan-based manufacturer of automobile wheels left one individual with injuries on Tuesday, according to local fire officials.
The fire erupted at the Dicastal North America plant, which supplies Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) wheels for a variety of vehicle models, in Greenville, Michigan. The Greenville Fire Department (GFD) responded to the scene and promptly extinguished the flames.
GFD Chief M.J. Bartlett stated that one employee sustained “minor injuries” as a result of the fire, adding that the individual was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Additionally, the Chief noted that the fire was contained to a specific area of the facility, which mitigated some of the potential damage.
The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time, though GFD investigators are continuing to assess the scene to determine its origin. As of now, no other individuals were reported injured, and the factory is expected to resume operations within the next 24 hours.
Dicastal North America provided a statement on the incident, expressing gratitude for the timely response of the GFD and expressing concern for the welfare of the individual who was injured. The company also stated that it will be collaborating with the GFD during its investigation of the fire.
