With 28 top jobs at Deloitte and Porsche – that’s why I quit

As a young boy, Sascha Haggenmüller wanted to be a racing driver. His father puts him in a car for the first time when Sascha is five years old – and this probably influences his future career choice.

Born in 1990, he grew up in the Allgäu in a down-to-earth environment. The father, a former school dropout, has grown into a successful self-employed person in the insurance business through hard work and discipline. Meanwhile, mother took care of the household. Although he is not one of the best students in school, he sets high goals for himself. At the age of 19, he began studying business administration in Heidelberg. This time he felt freedom for the first time, as he tells Business Insider. A life of study has lasting consequences for him and teaches him how fulfilling a combination of studies, work and leisure time can be.

A semester abroad followed: The then 21-year-old spent six months in San Diego, California. Time in the USA broadens his horizons. Haggenmüller encounters a completely new culture for the first time, which he loves very much

He gets his first mandatory training at EY

He eventually landed his first mandatory internship at Ernst & Young in auditing. And because he is doing so well, he is hired immediately in 2012. At the same time, he is finishing his master’s degree at SRH Fernhochschule Baden-Württemberg. He successfully completed his training in September 2014. But the ambitious young man wants to go further. “I wanted a doctorate. What I liked about some of the members of the DAX board was that they had doctorates,†recalls Haggenmüller. The title is a symbol of success for him at this time and should show him that his self-doubts are unfounded. “In terms of education, this name was Olympus for me,†he admits

However, he does not want to give up his good work for this. So he decides to do distance learning and get his DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) at the University of Gloucestershire in England. This university allows him to write a thesis from Munich along with his full-time job. He starts in May 2015. At this time he is only 25 years old
