Dennis Foggia has a strong Moto3 record. With ten wins, the Italian is one of the most successful drivers. After failing in the Moto2 career, the first test of the restorer was in Jerez.
The signing of Italian Dennis Foggia to Jorge “Aspar” Martinez’s team is one of the most surprising transfer events of the 2025 racing season.
After two years in Moto2 at Italtrans, in 2024 with Diogo Moreira, Foggia is now not transferring to Moto2 with Martinez – but is back in the smallest transfer class. Important: No matter what the Italian tried, in 40 attempts he could not find the exclamation mark. In 2023, Foggia will finish in 19th place in the World Cup, and in 2024 it will be only in 24th place.
CFMOTO team owner Jorge Martinez is one of the reference points in the entire MotoGP paddock. The Spaniard stepped up and gave Foggia a place in the Moto3 garage after having to give way to Spaniard Adrian Huertas at Italtrans. Martinez knows: Dennis Foggia was one of the best Moto3 riders ever. Two years in a row he finished the world championship in the top three for Leopard Racing.
Foggia, who trained with his new teammates in Jerez, summed up the project himself as follows: “I’ve always felt very good in Moto3 and I’ve already had a lot of success. Now I’m very grateful to have the chance to work harder, it’s about being the best rider in Moto3.”
The fact that the change did not go perfectly – after two strong days in Jerez, Foggia was only at the bottom of the shortlist, 1.3 seconds behind – did not surprise the switcher: “It was important for us to create a basic feeling and trust again. Driving is very different and I want to keep it in. We didn’t engage in any fine tuning or detailing. I also drove the car all the time with used tires.”
The 23-year-old, who already has ten GP victories in Moto3, reported in Jerez: “In addition, I don’t know Moto3-KTM. The bike is very different from Honda, and that was already two years ago. But what I can say is that I really liked the new machine. The behavior on the brakes is good, and we have already done very well there. Only in the fast corners, I still have to improve a lot.”
Foggia commented on the conclusion with a smiling face: “The adjustment from Moto3 to Moto2 was not easy and it was also not easy to go back. But after the test I say: the feeling is behind. If we have another test, then we will be competitive in terms of times.
Dennis Foggia is also expected to take on the role of Moto3 consultant for the team. Rookie Max Quiles drives alongside the Italian. The Spaniard, who even has a chance to win the Junior World Championship with two races to go, is more likely to be seen as a serious competitor than as an apprentice. For Jerez the young man was faster than the veteran.
