News: Lexus UX 300h revised for 2024 model year

The most important development is that the hybrid-electric UX 250h is being replaced by the new UX 300h. Like the UX 250h, the UX 300h is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder. The new UX 300h has a maximum power of 146 kW (199 hp), an increase of 8% compared to the 135 kW (184 hp) of the UX 250h. This increase is enabled by a fifth-generation hybrid system that replaces the original 216-volt 180-cell nickel-metal hydride battery with a more efficient 60-cell, 222-volt lithium-ion battery. This reduces the 0-100 km/h sprint from 8.5 to 8.1 seconds in the front-wheel drive model and from 8.7 to 7.9 seconds in the all-wheel drive model.

Fuel consumption has also been improved, thanks to better powertrain and weight reduction, up to 4.7 to 5.0 l/100 km in the WLTP combined cycle for the front-wheel drive model and up to 5.0 to 5.4 l/100 km for all . – model of driving wheels. This is a 12% improvement over the previous model.

A more powerful electric motor

As before, the Lexus UX comes with e-Four all-wheel drive. This system has also been extensively overhauled by Lexus engineers. The rear electric motor of the new e-Four all-wheel drive system is 5.6 times more powerful than its predecessor. Instead of the UX 250h induction motor of 5.3 kW (7 hp), there is now a permanent magnet motor of 30 kW (41 hp).

Rapid acceleration is complemented by quiet driving dynamics in the UX 300h with all-wheel drive. Body roll is better dampened when taking a tight turn, the car’s position is more stable under hard braking, and when the road surface is sliding on one side of the car than the other, the car can accelerate and accelerate more strongly. Brake hard and take turns stricter and more controllable.

These improvements have been achieved through precise adjustment of the weight distribution to each axle of the e-Four all-wheel drive system, which constantly monitors driving conditions to optimize front and rear torque distribution. Driving dynamics also benefit from increased body stiffness, thanks to the stability bar with radiator support and tailgate reinforcement.

Equipment

A new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is now optionally available in the cockpit. The appearance changes depending on the selected driving mode and the setting can be adjusted to the driver’s personal preferences. The standard 8-inch multimedia touchscreen has also been updated.

UX buyers can now also choose a new interior color: Ammonite Sand. In addition, buyers can now choose an interior package without leather with fabric leather seats or vegan with artificial leather for the heated steering wheel and gear lever knob. The Driver Monitor camera is attached to the steering wheel. This constantly monitors the driver’s attention and detects if the driver has lost concentration due to fatigue or bad conditions. If the driver does not respond to the warnings, the monitor activates the emergency brake, bringing the vehicle to a controlled stop and activating the hazard lights.

Two more features have been added to the latest version of the Lexus+ Safety System. Proactive Driving Assist uses the vehicle’s front camera to detect hazards at low speeds in the city. For example, the car now recognizes pedestrians who are about to cross or walk along the road, parked cars and cyclists. Automatic hazard lights activate at high speed if there is a risk of a collision from a vehicle approaching from behind. Safety Exit Assist, helps prevent collisions between vehicles coming from behind when the door is opened or the occupants get out.

New color schemes

For the exterior of the UX, a new color, Sonic Copper, is available for all model versions. For the F SPORT Design and F SPORT Line models there is an additional variant on the two-tone color scheme: Bi-tone +. A separate roof now extends from the A-pillar to the C-pillar and the end of the rear window is now visually integrated into the line of the rear door.

Digital key

UX is now also offered with a digital key option. This means drivers no longer need a physical key and can unlock and start the car with a smartphone. It’s enough to have a smartphone nearby and up to five people can be authorized in the app, making car sharing easy and safe.
