Ford is selling its heart

After relaunching the Mustang, bringing it back to the track and then announcing a road version to compete with the Porsche GT3, Ford is now putting its legendary V8 on sale “on its own”. Because starting next month anyone will be able to buy (for $11,500) the famous 5.0 liter Coyote engine, the one installed in 2024 Mustangs, and put it under any hood. In America it is a legal and widespread practice, which is strictly prohibited in our country.

This story shows the love of the American company for its V8 and is linked to what happened in the world of motorsport with the Ford Cosworth DFV V8 (Double Four Valve) which was used by almost all F1 teams, from 1967 to 1988, winning 155 Grands Prix. thus becoming F1’s longest-lasting and most successful engine.

But selling the V8 separately from the Mustang and letting enthusiasts do what they want with it is also a way to show the world that the heart of a car can make a difference, and thus transform any old barrel into a technological masterpiece. Americans, as we know, love to modify and replace classic cars with modern engines: there is nothing better than taking on this world.

The Ford V8 in question (code M-6007-M50D) is actually the same engine, identical in every way, to the unit installed in the latest Mustang GT. That’s an all-aluminum, 32-valve unit, with direct and indirect injection, high-flow cylinder heads and dual throttle bodies, which develops 480 horsepower at 7,150 rpm in its configuration of normal.

Then, if you want, you can have a kit with a compressor that increases the power to 810 HP, also for sale, just add another 9,995 dollars to the 11,500 of the engine. However, with the V8 Ford includes the engine assembly and dual-mass flywheel, but the powertrain control module (PCM), alternator and mounts must be purchased separately. Then you just need to find a doctor who can do a heart transplant and that’s it.
