The Ford E-Transit joins the LCV club with a 400km range

Ford’s big electric car, thanks to its new 89 kWh battery, now has a range of 402 km. The E-Transit also gets fast charging by accepting up to 180 kW of DC power.

For several years, Ford had a head start in the electric car segment with the E-Transit. Its length of 317 km made it the best seller in the market, in the face of competition that strives to exceed 200 km.

Sales were also there with 3,306 units sold in France in 2023. In comparison, Renault Master E-Tech stood at 696 units, Mercedes-Benz eSprinter at 561 units and Volkswagen e-Crafter at 192 units. Pit.

402 km of freedom

But in 2024, the situation will change. Stellantis has revised its copy and now offers large passenger cars with a range of more than 400 km. The same goes for Mercedes-Benz with the completely revised eSprinter or even Renault with the new Master E-Tech, rated at 460 km of autonomy, the best value in the unit.

So Ford has decided to react and is equipping its E-Transit with a new 89 kWh battery. A technical development that now allows to display a range of 402 km. Which is equivalent to a 28% gain.

The American light utility vehicle also gains speed under load. For direct current, the acceptable power increases from 115 to 180 kW. Ford announces that it is possible to recover 116 km of autonomy in ten minutes and increase the fuel to 80% in 28 minutes. In changing now, there is also better since the maximum power increases to 22 kW.

To complete the package, the manufacturer equips the E-Transit with a steam injection heat pump as standard. This allows the passenger compartment to heat up more quickly and, above all, save energy.

Delivered in 2025

Ford is also taking advantage of this update to expand the range of its big electric car. It is now available in 19 versions. This catalog now includes two lengths (L3 and L4), double cabins and even a minibus version that can accommodate up to 15 people.

All models in the range finally benefit from extended maintenance intervals of up to two years and unlimited mileage. Orders will open this year with deliveries starting in 2025.
