If Ford Polska sends a dozen or so journalists to a car event somewhere on the edge of Europe, it clearly shows the great importance of what will be discussed there. Indeed, the Ford Pro, released in Barcelona, is a fundamental thing in the history of the brand for the European market.
Ford Pro is a new international team of experts in various fields, established to provide all kinds of solutions to companies, the result of which is to increase their productivity, regardless of the size and number of vehicles used by them. In practice, this will involve the sale/lease of vehicles and a combination of software, payment systems, services and financing for their owners and users. Ford Pro Team Edition includes a single, end-to-end platform to support non-Ford fleets as companies introduce electric models. The Ford Pro program has been introduced in the US market for several months.
Ford Pro aims to make it easier for consumers to own their electric fleet with a variety of fully electric vehicles.
And so Ford Pro Vehicles presents the new E-Transit electric vehicle, which includes a long list of standard equipment with various technical solutions that will make the transition to an electric vehicle easy and convenient for companies that use it. The design has been developed to meet the various needs of users. So its different body height and their height, cabin size and loading space.
As usual, Ford E-Transit has a traction battery with a usable capacity of 68 kWh, allowing to cover up to 317 kilometers (according to WLTP) on one full charge. The electric Ford is powered by an electric motor with a torque of 430 Nm and two power levels of 135 kW (184 hp) or 198 kW (269 hp) to choose from. The load capacity of this car is up to 1758 kg for the van model. The range includes about 25 variants: a car, a car with a double cab and a chassis with a cab, with different lengths and roof heights, as well as a total weight from 3.5 to 4.25 tons.
The new Ford E-Transit has the function of ProPower Onboard, which also allows to supply electricity to standard external sockets in the cabin and in the cargo area up to 2.3 kW, thus allowing it to power the equipment necessary for work, such as hammer, pneumatic or grinder.
Even in the basic version, the electric Transit is on board, among others electronic interior temperature control, keyless start system, heated seats, heated windshield and electrically heated exterior mirrors .
Along with it, the new SYNC 4 communication and information system, SYNC 3, which is operated by touch on a 12-inch screen, is being introduced on Ford commercial models in Europe.
The most important new driver assistance systems include the Reverse Emergency Braking System, which uses cameras and sensors to detect pedestrians, cyclists and other obstacles when reversing. This system first warns before action is taken and then stops the car automatically if the driver does not respond. The 360-degree camera system, whose image appears on the screen mentioned above, can also be very helpful.
Following the launch of the new E-Transit, which had 5,000 orders before the first units rolled off the production line, Ford announced that the Transit range will include a total of four new electric models. These will be: the new one-tonne Transit Custom and the multi-purpose Tourneo Custom, which will appear next year, while the smaller Transit Courier and the next-generation multi-purpose Tourneo Courier will hit the roads in 2024.
The Ford Pro Special Vehicle Department is responsible for preparing selected models for the specific needs of the customer who orders this vehicle. This applies not only to its size, but also to special equipment. In addition, fleets can benefit from Ford Pro Telematics 4 software that helps improve the management of Ford’s connected commercial vehicles. The app is an integrated ecosystem of various digital solutions, using real-time data to connect vehicles, telematics, payments and services.
The transition to electric drives in the commercial vehicle sector is already in the near future. To facilitate this process, the Ford Pro Charging team will explore a fully integrated, cost-effective battery charging system for vehicles in the fleet. This is to allow them to work according to effective payment strategies. This service also includes the installation of equipment and the software that manages them at the place designated by the ordering parties, which will work with electric E-Transits. Their on-board communication system enables potential problems to be identified before drivers are aware of them and resolved with minimal disruption.
On the other hand, Ford Pro Service team members will check the most suitable time for the vehicles to be “maintained” through access to their data. A fleet of mobile workshops are available, which can eliminate up to 70 percent of the point of incapacitated car parking. all possible causes of failure.
As if that wasn’t enough, the range of Ford Pro vehicles, products and services will be included in the upcoming Ford Pro FinSimple program – a single and simple financing program for small and medium fleets that will allow commercial customers to focus. their business. This includes commercial vehicle purchase and lease financing using consolidated invoices, commercial credit lines, online account management, and the ability to work with a financial professional.
