Alfa Romeo’s new Milano is powered by an electric motor

Stellantis has created an SUV from its small set of cars and is adding the Alfa Milano to the Opel Mokka. The Italians are venturing into new areas – and for the first time at the payment terminal.

Milan (dpa/tmn) – Finally something new: After a break from advertising for more than two years, Alfa Romeo is now celebrating another big series show and has unveiled the new Milano in Milan. The compact SUV, which is 4.17 meters long, is scheduled to go on sale this summer. Alfa Romeo has yet to announce pricing. However, the fourth series from the Italians is based on the same modular system as the Mokka from sister brand Opel – which currently starts at 26,550 euros.

It runs on electricity or on micro-hybrid technology

Using a modular system, Alfa Romeo achieved an electric drive for the first time. The giant is also installing a 115 kW/156 hp electric motor and a 54 kWh battery in Milano. The Italians attribute a standard range of 410 km to this and mention a charging capacity of 100 kW.

Alternatively, Alfa has announced a gasoline engine with mild hybrid technology: The 1.2-liter three-cylinder has 100 kW/136 hp and is assisted by a 28 kW/28 hp electric motor in the gearbox, which is at least a few hundred meters away. . City traffic also takes that pace on its own.

Because Alfa is one of the sportiest brands in the family, you don’t have to settle for this limited engine selection. Soon the Italians want to add a variant with 176 kW/240 hp to the electric version and thus live up to their reputation as hot guys. (dpa)
