2024 Acura TLX Review: Price, Specs, and Photos

A mid-size sedan, the Acura TLX is as big as the Audi A6 or BMW 5-Series but costs more than the BMW 3-Series and Audi A4.

We’re not fans of its touchscreen-based infotainment interface, but the 2024 Acura TLX impresses with its value, ride and handling, and features. It gets a TCC Rating of 7.0 out of 10. (Read more about how we rate cars.)

For 2024, Acura will downsize the base model and make the original Technology Package equipment standard. The car also gets improved styling, larger interior screens, a quieter cabin, and improved safety features.

External changes are minor. Each model now gets a faceless version of the brand’s five-sided grille and features a new diamond mesh design. That’s accompanied by an angular and sleek design that doesn’t offer the TLX’s front-drive platform. The rear end is similar to the look of the nose, and the whole car has a pleasant, sporty look.

Inside, the TLX now has 12.3-inch screens for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen. The center stack and center console are filled with buttons that create a cockpit view.

The base TLX is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-4 that makes 272 hp. It’s fast and efficient with an EPA rating of 25 mpg combined. It comes with front- or all-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The TLX Type S uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 that boosts output to 355 hp and can launch from 0-60 mph in five seconds. It only comes with all-wheel drive.

While its front-drive roots mean the TLX will never be confused with the BMW M3 in the handling department, it’s fun to drive and fast. It is balanced through the corners and mounts well in any shape. The Type S adds fun, but it doesn’t have what it takes to be a track car.

A large cabin gives the TLX a roomy cabin, highlighted by comfortable and supportive front seats. The rear seat also offers good space for adults, although the trunk is on the small side.

Safety is the TLX’s strength, with good crash test scores and plenty of standard safety equipment further improved with new sensors and additional features this year.

How much does the 2024 Acura TLX cost?
