Former Vermont teacher charged with lewd behavior with student

A former teacher in Vermont has been accused of engaging in lewd behavior with a student.

The Vermont State Police have charged Frank Mason, a former teacher at the Arlington Public School, with one count of lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor under the age of 16.

According to police, the investigation began in May when the school district reported a suspected incident of inappropriate conduct between Mason and a student. An investigation was conducted, and it was determined that Mason had allegedly engaged in a series of lewd acts with the student.

Mason was arrested and released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court later this month. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison.

The Arlington Public School District released a statement saying that Mason was immediately placed on administrative leave when the allegations first surfaced and was subsequently terminated from his position. The district also said that they are deeply troubled by the allegations and are committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all students.

Mason had been teaching at Arlington Public School for more than five years. He had also previously taught in other school districts in Vermont.
