At Alfa Romeo no stone is left unturned. After the loss of team boss Frederic Vasseur, the Formula 1 racing team also changed its name and main sponsor. He even talks about a “new identity”.
Part of the new identity: Alfa Romeo will enter the season without a team boss. It’s really unthinkable in Formula 1. That’s why all the racing teams are looking forward to this test.
Formula 1: Alfa Romeo without team boss
Four wheels, two drivers, one team boss – these are the basic rules in Formula 1. But Alfa Romeo is now simply ignoring them. During the winter break, successful team boss Frederic Vasseur lost it to Scuderia Ferrari. It has now been decided that there will be no successor.
Without a team boss – how is that supposed to work? The Swiss racing team has come up with something and spread the responsibilities over several shoulders. Two of them belong to Andreas Seidl. Ironically, he had resigned from his post as McLaren team boss to oversee the fortunes of Sauber, soon to be Audi, as CEO.
Bravi represents Alfa Romeo at the race weekend
Now the Sauber F1 team is announcing another change at the top of Alfa Romeo. Alessandro Alunni Bravi becomes the “official team representative”. The Italian lawyer will retain his position as managing director of the Sauber Group. Furthermore, he will now take on the duties of team boss, but only at the end of the race week.
The Formula 1 racing team confirms that he will not be the boss of the team. That means: More power to CEO Andreas Seidl. He will lead the development of the car and make strategic decisions away from the track.
“I would like to thank Andreas and our shareholders for their trust and reiterate my commitment to do everything in my power to fulfill their expectations and represent the team in the best possible way,” Bravi announced. At least a little stability in Alfa Romeo: the drivers remain Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou.
