Fred Vasseur (Ferrari) warns: No guarantees / Formula 1

So all is well at Ferrari? Team boss Fred Vasseur remains skeptical. The 55-year-old Frenchman says: “We can definitely say that our drivers can handle the tires better in the 2024 car. And we are not doing too badly in terms of wear – the best laps in Jeddah and Melbourne were achieved shortly before the checkered flag fall in. But none of this is a guarantee of higher results.

“But for me the question remains whether this development can be seen on every type of race surface and under all conditions. Let’s take China: There we will have a completely different asphalt and we think it will be less hot than in the race so far.

“So Shanghai will be a good test for us. Because we have driven in cold conditions only once so far, in the third training session in Japan. And the picture there was not clear because the rivals were running different programs, and in the end nobody knows which how much fuel was in the tanks and how much power was produced.

“We did a good job at the Japan Grand Prix. Now we have to make sure we make progress in the final practice to get a good starting position for the race.”
