Kevin Magnussen: Confidence after 13th place in Suzuka / Formula 1

Neither of the two Haas drivers finished in the top 10 at Suzuka. Nico Hülkenberg was close in eleventh place, his teammate Kevin Magnussen had to settle for 13th place. However, the Dane is confident.

The current season is four races old, and Kevin Magnussen is one of 14 Formula 1 drivers who have already scored points. The Haas veteran managed to finish tenth in Melbourne to earn his first World Championship point of the year. In Suzuka he came out empty-handed in thirteenth place. Sometimes he could hope to get more points, but in the end it was not enough.

“At one point in the race I was in the top 10. I didn’t know what strategies the other riders around me were following and I wasn’t really sure it was realistic to hope for. But I just tried,” cried Dane.

“Some people take advantage of red flags at the start of a race,” analyzed the 31-year-old, stressing that he was not of this group. “I had to get out early for the second stint on the hard tire and that made it difficult,” he explained.

However, Magnussen is confident about the next race. He said: “In the race, it is with the music or next to it, and that is encouraging. It gives us hope that we can fight for points in the next race.”
