A new face in the Formula 1 environment of the Sauber team!
Formula 1 team Alfa Romeo Sauber promotes Alessandro Alunni Bravi (48). Kind of a team boss. However, the Italian is not officially named as such.
His official job title is still “CEO” at parent company Sauber – and now also “Team Representative” of the Alfa Romeo F1 team for Formula 1.
His new work is described in the release as follows: Alunni Bravi will “represent the team in all official activities on the race weekend and off the track”. So he does the work of a team leader without having a title.
early history: Until 2022, Frédéric Vasseur (54) was the boss of the Alfa Sauber team in Formula 1. However, the Frenchman moved to Ferrari in December, which previously announced a separation from the previous team boss Mattia Binotto (53). Shortly after, Sauber also announced a new registration. German Andreas Seidl (47) comes to Sauber from McLaren – but not as team boss, but as CEO of the Sauber Group.
What also plays a role: from 2026 the team will be Audi. The German carmaker will then enter Formula 1. It is possible that Seidl will then take over as team boss – and that the team will want to keep all options open with the current selection.
Before joining Audi, Sauber still had a partnership with Ferrari, including engines. It is definitely important to have an Italian on board with Alunni Bravi.
How is it with him?
Dortmund’s main plan remains in Bellingham
The signing of Alunni Bravi is the first major public move by the new CEO Andreas Seidl. The German had his first day in the Swiss racing team on January 9.
Andreas Seidl on the new semi-team boss: “Having Alessandro represent the team during the Formula 1 World Championship allows me to focus on the growth of the group and prepare for the challenges and opportunities that await us. I thank Alessandro for believing in our vision and welcoming him in this position extra.
