Obviously, the last weeks of 2023 will be very eventful according to the records released in the automotive world. After Jeep, Ford, Tesla and Toyota, to mention only these brands, now it’s the turn ofAcura and of Honda. The issued recall affects vehicles from both brands and focuses on the fuel supply problem. In the United States, approximately 2.6 million vehicles are affected, while in Canada, approximately 300,000 vehicles are affected.
An important reminder
According to Transport Canada’s website, the recall targeted 297,836 Canadian vehicles split between the Acura and Honda brands. The raised problem would be from a low pressure fuel pump. If the latter were to fail, the engine may run incorrectly or fail to start, and the check engine light may come on. If the car is parked, the problem may cause more inconvenience than anything else. However, if this defect were to occur on the road while driving, a sudden loss of engine power could occur and represent a serious accident risk.
The corrective action prescribed by the manufacturer is to notify owners by letter and ask them to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the fuel pump motor replaced. Concerned owners can also consult the Honda Canada website. In the recall section of Honda’s website, people will be able to enter their VIN (vehicle identification number) to see if their vehicle is affected.
At the time of writing, no major incidents related to this problem have been reported.
