Subaru Outback Platinum Cross Edition: The all-wheel drive station wagon makes you blue

The Subaru Outback comes as a special model with a unique color option.

Subaru is launching a special limited edition Outback all-wheel drive station wagon. Like the Platinum Cross Edition, the Japanese are meant to emphasize the best chic and its rustic nature in equal measure. For this purpose, the features of the Exclusive Cross and Platinum equipment lines are combined – and not only in the name of the special series.

New color for the big station wagon

Subaru Outback Platinum Cross is painted in a unique color “Geyser Blue”, which is not available for standard equipment lines in the range. The roof rails with green decorative elements and the same color lettering on the bumper are carried over from the Outback Exclusive Cross, as are the black 18-inch alloy wheels. What’s new is a black design panel running between the taillights. Inside there are special floor mats with a special series name.

Based on the Platinum equipment line, the limited edition comes with, among other things, a nappa leather interior and a Harman/Kardon audio system. An 11.6-inch infotainment display stands vertically in the cockpit. In addition to the front and rear cameras, there is also a side view camera on the right side – it helps when driving in the forest or urban forest.

Technically, the large station wagon with a length of 4.87 meters remains unchanged. Under the hood is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder boxer engine. The vacuum cleaner produces 124 kW / 169 hp. A torque of 252 Newton meters, which is available at 3,800 rpm, is managed by a continuous CVT transmission. The weight of the trailer is stated as 2,200 kg.

The Subaru Outback Platinum Cross version costs 48,840 euros. So it costs 300 euros more than the Platinum version (48,540 euros) and 2,200 euros more than the Outback Exclusive Cross (46,640 euros).

Conclusion

The limited-edition Subaru Outback Platinum Edition comes with a new exterior color, combining features from the Exclusive Cross and Platinum variants. This means that an all-wheel drive station wagon with a boxer engine should earn points and not be misunderstood as a special offer. At 48,840 euros, it’s the most expensive way to drive the Outback.
