Mitsubishi Electric and the KNVB are launching the second Green Club Weeks campaign

The launch of this campaign coincides with the publication of research, which shows, among other things, that football clubs will face a significant increase in the costs of electricity, water, gas and waste processing in the coming years. This allows contributions to increase by 75% in six years. Together with The Green Club Weeks, Mitsubishi Electric and the KNVB, with the help of energy coach John Williams, want to increase the focus on sustainability among football clubs and meet the needs of the associations on this subject. During Green Club Weeks, three premium Mitsubishi Electric pumps can be won, each worth €30,000.

“We realize that club directors have many questions and face great challenges, what is wisdom? How do we make sure that we make the right investments so that sports are accessible to all our members, in all social and economic classes? That’s why we organize. Club Weeks Green together started with the KNVB to help clubs take the right steps,” says Erwin Bonis, Marketing Manager of Mitsubishi Electric, a sustainable partner of the KNVB.

The media campaign will focus mainly on club directors and football fans in the next four weeks. This reach is created with a paid, earned media strategy. In addition, during Green Club Weeks, clubs have the chance to win one of three heat pumps from Mitsubishi Electric, each worth €30,000.

During the first Green Club Weeks it became clear that discussion on this subject is important. That is why five Green Club Evenings are organized in elite clubs in the country, to answer all questions from clubs related to sustainability. During these evenings, current topics are highlighted such as energy use, subsidies, switching to a heat pump, use of single-use plastics and future relationships.

The campaign was developed and executed by Players United, a football marketing and activation agency. Communications and PR support is provided by strategic communications agency KOROKI Communications.
