DESIGN AND INTERIOR AFFAIRS

Alfa Romeo Milan measurement Length 4.17 meters x width 1.78 meters x height 1.5 meters. The trunk offers a capacity of 400 liters. We have seen several spy shots of the B-SUV over the past few months. Now, we can closely examine its actual forms. The design was developed by Alfa Romeo Cinema Center. The front end is characterized by “3+3” headlights and dynamic Matrix LED lights. The B-SUV also sports short skirts, muscular wheel arches and a lowered tail, which hearkens back to the old Giulia TZ.

As for the interior, the instrument panel is characterized by the historic “telescopic” design. The digital instrument can be based on a 10.25-inch screen. In the center of the dashboard, oriented to the driver, we find a 10.25-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system that has a graphical interface designed around widget logic, which can be easily customized by dragging and dropping. Therefore, each user can create his own home page.

In the passenger compartment there are also four leaf-shaped air conditioners and sports seats designed by Sabelt. A BEV model can be calculated as well in the cable organizer compartment under the bonnet, where you can store the charging cable. Proximity access technology is also available on the Milano, which allows you to unlock and lock your vehicle by approaching or moving away from the vehicle.

We are still talking about technology, electric models can rely on the EV-Routing function in the infotainment that allows you to plan charging stations within the journey. The user only needs to set the desired location and the navigation system will automatically calculate any charging stations along the route.

Also, thanks to OTA updates, maps and car apps will always be updated. Instead, through the My Alfa Connect smartphone application it will be possible to remotely control the car (opening/closing doors, flashing lights), find the car, check some parameters (speed and location) and be notified if they are not respected.

Another new feature is collaboration of Hey Alfa’s virtual assistant, according to GPT Chatwhich allows you to control some of the car’s features through voice recognition.

DRIVING AND SAFETY

Alfa Romeo has worked hard to develop the new Milan can provide a driving experience that has always distinguished its models. The team that coordinated the development of the driving dynamics is the same that developed the Giulia GTA at the Balocco test center.

The car maker says that the steering is the most direct in the segment (ratio 14.6:1) and is very precise with emergency adjustment to emphasize road holding qualities; on the Veloce version, the setup is sporty and lowered by 25 mm; front and rear anti-roll bars have sports calibration to ensure fast and accurate cornering; the brake system consists of 380mm discs at the front with 4-piston monobloc calipers; Torsen’s difference is also there. In addition, the 20-inch tires are specialized for high-performance electric vehicles and provide high levels of grip.

A B-SUV is also available Alpha DNA system

The “Dynamic” mode, thanks also to the special adjustment of the steering wheel and accelerator, offers high performance and driving pleasure. The “Natural” mode is designed for everyday use through a careful balance between performance and comfort, while the “High Efficiency” mode is optimized for maximum energy efficiency by reducing consumption without compromising driving pleasure.

Only on the hybrid version of the Q4, a fourth mode, called Q4, is available for low-grip mode. Regarding safety, the Milano offers, depending on the version, ADAS systems that can allow driving with Level 2 assistance. We also get a 180-degree rear camera that, together with 360-degree parking sensors, monitors the surrounding area.

MILAN ELECTRICITY

The B-SUV will be offered in an electric version with the familiar 115 kW / 156 HP powertrain powered by a 54 kWh battery. Performance has not been revealed but Alfa Romeo has made it known that the car is capable of delivering range of 410 km according to the WLTP cycle.

The Alfa Romeo Milano Elettrica will then be offered in the Veloce version with a power of 177 kW / 240 HP (the same unit that we will find in the Abarth 600e). The battery does not change. Also in this case the exhibits were not presented.

On the charging front, the battery can be charged with direct current up to a maximum power of 100 kW (from 10 to 80% charge in less than 30 minutes).

HYBRID MILAN

The Alfa Romeno Milano will also be offered with the same engine 48 V Mini Mixer. This is a power train that we already know and is made up of a 1.2 liter 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine capable of producing 100 kW / 136 hp along with a 21 kW / 29 HP electric motor connected to a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The car manufacturer says that in the city it is possible to travel in electric mode up to 50% of the time. There is no information about performance.
