Chery is expanding its European offensive by investing in B-ON utility vehicles


Chinese manufacturer Chery and specialist in light electric vehicles announce the formation of a joint venture. The alliance allows B-ON to obtain capital and industrial resources to develop and sell Pelkan in Europe and North America from 2024.

Chery wants to strike fast and hard to conquer the European car market. In addition to the upcoming deployment of a full range of passenger cars and the opening of a factory in Spain, the Chinese manufacturer announces the creation of a joint venture with B-ON.

This new initiative is intended to be mutually beneficial. Chery invests in a manufacturer specializing in the use of electric lights with great ambitions and recognized skills in technical design and product development.

In turn, B-ON gets capital from China’s state-owned auto giant, along with its manufacturing engineering and supply chain capabilities.

Pelkan Sales

The establishment of this joint venture will lead to the sale of the Pelkan in Europe and North America by mid-2024. This electric utility vehicle offers a payload of 1,350 kg and a range between 226 and 279 km depending on the battery pack chosen (43 or 54 kWh).
