German environmental aid wants Robert Habeck to implement this against the Porsche lobby party FDP

Berlin (ots) –

After Audi boss Markus Duesmann yesterday spoke in favor of speed limits on roads due to the energy emergency, the German Environmental Aid (DUH) is calling on the Federal Minister responsible for energy security and climate protection, Robert Habeck, defending a speed limit of 100 km/h on the road, Implementing 80 km/h outside the city and 30 km/h in the city against the lobby party Porsche FDP. In March and July 2022, the DUH had already asked Oliver Zipse (BMW), Ola Källenius (Mercedes-Benz) and Herbert Diess (Volkswagen) for personal approval of the speed limit on the road and had personal but unsuccessful talks with motor vehicle board members. So far, they have not been willing to allow the federal government to establish a speed limit. DUH Federation Executive Director Jürgen Resch:

“Dear Robert Habeck, the rejection of the car companies is shaking. First, managers like the head of Audi are now allowing the federal government to set the speed limit. The final decisions to order more coal-fired power plants lead to an increase in additional CO2. According to of the current climate protection law, these must be corrected immediately and in parallel You are responsible for energy security and climate protection With the introduction of 100 km per hour on the road, 80 km per hour outside the city and 30 km /h in the city, 10 million liters of gasoline and diesel can be saved immediately, without new rules and at no cost, saving more than 9 million tons of CO2. The speed limit not only saves a large amount of fuel, but also gas of oil through the use of refinery energy.”
