The SSR team presents Lamborghini’s search for the 2024 DTM season

(Motorsport-Total.com) – After SSR Performance only showed a carbon fiber advertisement in the driver announcement with Mirko Bortolotti and Nicki Thiim shortly before Christmas, the team has a few days before the official DTM test in Hockenheim (April 9 – 10). ) now presents the final designs for next season. Two Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2s will once again be sent to the race in the company’s “SSR Green” livery with black accents.

Apart from minor changes to the sponsor logos, the paint scheme looks the same as last year – Thiim’s car has his motto “Go hard or go home” emblazoned on the back. “It’s great that I was able to incorporate my driver’s motto into the design,” says the Danish visitor, who is a works driver for Aston Martin and is celebrating his DTM return in a Lamborghini thanks to the approval from his manufacturer.

How can fans tell the difference between the cars? In Bortolotti’s car with starting number 92, the exterior mirrors and front fenders were given the SSR base color as of 2023. In Thiim’s car with starting number 94, however, red materials are used in these areas.

The cars will be seen in new designs for the first time at the official two-day test at Hockenheim, before the season opener at Oschersleben last weekend in April.

“I am very happy with our design,” says team owner Stefan Schlund. “We are fully prepared for this season and have an incredibly strong line-up of drivers with Mirko and Nicki. After finishing second in 2023, there is definitely only one goal for us: the championship title. I expect a close fight.”

In order for Thiim to familiarize his team with the new Evo version of the Huracan, the team completed the GT Winter Series guest show in Valencia and tested in Barcelona in February. A wise move, as there has been a testing ban in the DTM since March 1. Vice-champion Bortolotti already knows the team and car from last year and has been busy with Lamborghini’s LMDh and GT races in recent months.

Team boss Mario Schuhbauer also leaves no doubt that they want to become DTM champions at the third attempt in 2024 – also with new personnel from the BMW Schubert Team. “It will be a very exciting season and we are ready for this challenge. In the test at Hockenheim we can finally compete with other teams and show our speed.”

Of course, “the DTM title is in our sights. We were able to learn a lot in our first season with Lamborghini and with this data we can adapt the cars even more to the demands of the respective race track this year.”
