The Maserati thief crashes into a wall and flees on foot


A car thief drove a Maserati into a wall in southern Brandenburg on Friday night while fleeing police. He then fled on foot.

According to the Western Police Department, an unknown person had previously stolen a sports car in the Babelsberg district of Potsdam. The owner heard someone start the car and called the police. While the Maserati was there, the thief was on the A15 south of Brandenburg.

In Vetschau (Oberspreewald-Lausitz), more than 100 kilometers from Potsdam, the police wanted to stop the car. However, the driver ignored the officers’ stop signs, then left the road and shortly after crashed into a wall. The stranger left the car and ran. A search for the man was unsuccessful and a tracking dog was also used. The investigation is ongoing.

Police filed reports of a car theft and a hit and run. Maserati were arrested. The car sustained five-figure damage.
