GCK and its hydrogenated Jeep on the way to the US market

It is a good demonstration of GCK (Green Corp Konnection). The group, specialized in the decarbonisation of cars and based in Lempdes in Puy-de-Dôme, participated from January 9 to 12 at CES in Las Vegas, under the pavilion of Business France. Together with its partner Motul, a French specialist in motor oils and lubricants, the company presented the 1976 Jeep Cherokee with a hydrogen combustion engine.

This example, a real technological breakthrough according to GCK (300 employees today, sales of 20 million Euros in 2022), should allow them to reach new commercial horizons. Two entities do not make a secret. They are targeting the American takeout market. In one country, the United States, where retrofit hydrogen (replacing the heat engine with an engine designed specifically for hydrogen) is gaining popularity. They intend to capitalize on this growing trend.

Partners in the US, contacts in Asia and the Middle East

“Our Jeep was very successful and therefore many visits to our stand It is a product that speaks to Americans is very popular for carbon removal in this part of CES allowed us to promote French technology and innovation also to find local partners to start an activity to change the pick- US ups using a hydrogen combustion engine, notes Eric Boudot, president of GCK A few partners have been identified and discussions are ongoing. Exploration is also underway in Asia and the Middle East, the manager points out.

Motul has GCK capital

And if Motul is involved with GCK, it’s because this type of engine needs a modified lubricant to deal with the limitations of hydrogen combustion. But the cooperation does not end there. Motul acquired a stake in GCK last September. Minority stakeholders with the goal of pooling their expertise and making progress on battery performance and hydrogen combustion. The two companies showed off their jointly developed immersion battery at CES.
