From Subaru and Aisin, eAxle for next-generation electric vehicles

Cooperation agreement between Subaru Corporation and Aisin Corporation for develop and share eAxle production.

It is the unifying unit the main parts required for the movement of a vehicle that uses an electric motor as the main source of power, like a BEV, in axle design. It mainly includes a gearbox, motor and inverter.

EAxles designed by Aisin will be used in battery electric cars that Subaru will start producing in the second half of the 2020scombining their knowledge and skills in the development of vehicles and transportation.

From Subaru and Aisin, eAxle for next-generation electric vehiclesThis joint development, based on the concept of high efficiency, agility and compactness, aims to achieve various aspects of performance. which take into account the environment in which customers will use their vehicles. In addition, the two companies will evaluate component suppliers and study the best production plans, considering the maintenance and development of the existing supply chain, which is undergoing significant changes as the electrification of vehicles continues.

Subaru has launched a roadmap towards 2050 with the aim of contributing to a zero carbon society and is accelerating various initiatives such as electrification.

Aisin aims to realize a zero-carbon society by promoting plans in terms of “production” and “product” and accelerates the development of the eAxle, which is a product with the highest priority, following the most efficient and scalable.

Subaru and Aisin will continue to seek cooperation opportunities in various areas and contribute to the further development of a strengthened society by providing high-value products and technologies unique to the two companies.
