Koenigsegg Jesko In-Car Video From Goodwood Looks Amazing And Terrifying

It’s one thing to watch the Goodwood Festival of Speed ​​from a third-person perspective. Of course the course is narrow but there’s still plenty of room to run, right? Switch to first-person perspective, however, and the perspective is very different. Add the element of speed to the mix, and one gains a new appreciation for the courage it takes to set a fast time on a steep 1.1 mile climb.

Luckily for us, Koenigsegg saw fit to have a camera inside the blue Jesko that hit the hill last weekend. Factory development driver Markus Lundh was behind the wheel, and YouTuber Mr. JWW (James William Walker) in the passenger seat. He is clearly impressed by Jesko’s energy, laughing and generally having a good time in the first half of the run. We see 213 kph on the digital speedometer under the open field past the large spectator area, which translates to over 130 mph. That’s an impressively large figure for a short piece of asphalt.

The second half of the run is where things get really interesting. The grass and trees effectively turn the mountain into a tunnel blast at times, closing in to leave without shoulders or an area to run. So, there is no room for error and Lundh makes Jesko boil. Speeds generally stay above 100 mph from the tight left hander to the finish, with a top speed observed of 218 kph (135 mph) locked at the line. Strange thing, Mr. JWW is not at all like the discussions during this stretch. With hay bales fading on either side of the course, we don’t blame him one bit.

There’s no official lap time listed, but our unofficial calculations show this pass taking about 52 seconds. If the video is correct, that’s close to fast enough to make the top 10 cars in this year’s mountain. The Porsche 911 GT2 Clubsport ran 51.45 seconds to claim 10th place, but from there, everything else was under 50 seconds. Top honors went to the McLaren Solus GT driven by Marvin Kirchöfer, finishing with a time of 45.34 seconds.

The Jesko runs a 5.0-liter turbocharged V8 capable of producing 1,600 horsepower on E85 fuel, but in terms of outboard speed, this isn’t the fastest version. The Jesko Absolut is being fine-tuned with an eye on breaking the 300 mph barrier. It will be a lighter version with reduced aero, although for a short course like Goodwood, the changes could make it slower and a lot more frightening from inside the cockpit.
