In February 2023, General Motors (GM) experienced an upsurge in Mexico sales, with a nine percent increase compared to the same month the previous year.

The American auto manufacturer’s Mexican arm, GM Mexicana, sold 16,387 units in February of this year, a marked improvement from the 14,941 units sold during the same month in 2022.

The increase in sales was aided by a surge in demand for GM’s crossover and SUV models. The company’s mid-size Blazer and Traverse SUVs saw a 50 and 39 percent growth respectively, while sales of the Trax small crossover were up 27 percent.

GM Mexicana’s President, Enrique Pintado, ascribed the growth to the company’s commitment to “superior customer service and a constant focus on innovation and quality.”

The company’s overall sales for the first two months of 2023 were up seven percent from the same period in 2022. GM has enjoyed a period of sustained growth in Mexico over the past few years, with sales in the country increasing by 15 percent in 2020 and 14 percent in 2021.

Commenting on the latest figures, Pintado said: “We are encouraged by the growth we are seeing in Mexico and are confident that the positive momentum will continue throughout the year.”
